By Mike

Thank you to those (very few) people who took the time to beta test Wizz RSS 4.0.0.0. The issues that were reported have been fixed, and the bug with the scroll bar in the item pane (A Firefox bug – https://bugzilla.mozilla.org/show_bug.cgi?id=584703) also seems to have been fixed.

I have set maxVersion of Wizz RSS 4.0.0.0 to 4.0.*, which means that it should work with Firefox 4.0b8, and it should continue to work with all future releases of Firefox 4, including the production release, whenever that might happen.

You can get Wizz RSS 4.0.0.0 here http://blat.co.za/XPIs/wizzrss4000.xpi or here http://www.wizzrss.com/XPIs/wizzrss4000.xpi

If you happen to find any bugs with 4.0.0.0, please report them, so that they can get fixed.

If you “bought” a “nag free version” of Wizz RSS, by making a donation, you can update your “nag free version” here http://www.wizzrss.com/dlnn.phpYou DO NOT have to make another donation!

    Hi,
The tabs with saved or find and the toolbar on my Wizz RSS sidebar have disappeared.
I’ve tried updating firefox to the latest 3.6 version after uninstalling wizz rss but it hasn’t made any difference.
I’ve even tried uninstalling Wizz Rss and selecting remove Wizz RSS folder to see if that would remove any saved settings. No luck at all.

When I first install Wizz RSS after uninstalling now I get a quick glimpse of the tabs/toolbar as I switch on the sidebar but I can’t find a way to make it stay on.

    Help, please!

@SR: You have probably hidden the tabs. Please read this section of the online help – http://www.wizzrss.com/helpwiki/index.php/Wizz_RSS_Sidebar

Some of the non-alphanumeric characters aren’t displaying properly anymore like they did back in version 3.2. To wit, instead of seeing & and > I just see the character codes & and > respectively.

@Mr. H: Please post the URL of a feed that is causing the problem so that I can investigate.

Hi, my WizzRSS with FF4 final release doesn’t play well. Any right-click action in the WizzRSS tab (the left one) blocks any consecutive righ-click menus in FF window (maybe some main menu-related commands too). Following right-click in the middle WizzRSS tab (named Nalezené články in czech, maybe Found Items in En) brings the funcionality of the right-click action in the FF window back.
The second bug – if the watch feature finds new unread items and there’s no display activity (i think) these channels are not highlighted. The only signal for me is the green dot in FF statusbar. But when I hover these channels with mouse the highligts appear.
Both (maybe-) bugs are verified with W7-64 Czech machine, WXP 32 Czech machine and also WXP 32 CZech virtual machine fresh instalation. FF4 Czech & WizzRSS4 Czech locale. I’m sorry I’m reverting to FF3 now.

@Petr: The 1st bug I wasn’t aware of. I’m also seeing the same bug. I have no idea what is causing it. I’ll have to look into it.

The 2nd bug I am aware of. The bug seems to apply to any styling changes made to the category/feed tree. i.e. it doesn’t only apply to the watch list finding new feeds, but it also applies to clicking an unread feed. The change from dark red bold to black only kicks in when the mouse moves over the element that has has its style changed.

Neither of these bugs drop any errors to the error console. So I have absolutely no idea what is causing either of them. The bugs are probably related to the Places Tree View Controller, which, for some or other stupid reason, the Firefox development people insist on changing all the time (deep long sigh).

Reverting to FF3 is probably a good idea. In fact, using Google Chrome is an even better idea :)

I have found this right click bug too. And it doesn’t even bother me because…
I just reinstalled WizzRSS after many many months thinking it had been discontinued.
I can’t tell you how happy I am. Wizz RSS is so good that I went without an rss reader for the entire time.
There is NOTHING else like it. The simple design keeps my main FF pages uncluttered and the headlines are all neatly displayed when I click a category and it’s the only reader that lets me click twice to play podcasts from the sidebar.
I will be donating shortly THANKS for not giving up folks!

As soon as FF4 is available on Ubuntu, I’ll try to sort out the bugs (I have FF4 installed on Windows, but I HATE using Windows).

I’m using Firefox 4.0.1 with Wizz RSS 4.0.0, and it works perfectly on my PC. However, I’d like to publish the RSS feeds on my website, and when I try to generate code I get a User Name and/or Password are incorrect error. I’m logged in, I’ve saved my feeds to the server, and I’m sure that I’m using the correct name and password.

@Neil: I’m really not 100% sure that the feed publishing stuff still works. I’ll have to check it and make sure that it is working.
