Wizz RSS online help needs help!

Back in March 2008 (Almost a year ago) I decided to move the Wizz RSS online help into a Wiki. The move was motivated by two different factors: -

  1. The fact that over the years I have spent countless hours maintaining online help that many people refuse to read.
  2. The fact that many of those who actually read the online help, complained about it.

Moving the online help to a Wiki was supposed to remove the load from myself, and turn the online help into a community project. It was also supposed to give those who complained about the quality/accuracy/spelling/whatever of the online help, the opportunity to correct the aspects they were unhappy about.

In the year that the online help has been in a Wiki, only two people (Apart from myself) have made a meaningful contribution! Yes! It’s true! Of the more than 100 000 people who use Wizz RSS on a daily basis, only two saw fit to contribute to the online help Wiki!

I guess that this is typical of most open source projects, and typical of the selfishness of most open source users. Yes, it’s an age old rant of mine: open source users take whatever they can, as long as it’s free, and give as little as possible in return :(

So where have all the whiners gone? All of those who complained about the old online help, when given the opportunity to “put their money where their mouth is,” seem to fade away like the morning mist… TWITS!

Anyway – End rant!

If you’d like to contribute to the online help, please mosey on over to the Wizz RSS online help Wiki. Don’t worry if you’ve never worked on a Wiki before, help is available here: – http://meta.wikimedia.org/wiki/MediaWiki_User%27s_Guide#For_editors
