For the last year I have been digitally signing the Wizz RSS for Firefox code. The digital signature is a safeguard for those installing the software, because it guarantees the software’s source. On 23 July 2008 my current VeriSign code signing certificate expires.
I’m not 100% sure what it costs to renew a VeriSign code signing certificate, but my existing one cost $499.00 (Including loads of time, frustration and phone calls to Switzerland). I assume that renewing the code signing certificate costs more-or-less the same, a price which I can’t afford. So, from now on, the Wizz RSS XPI for Firefox will no longer be signed. This includes Wizz RSS, Wizz RSS Lite and Sage-Too (Because I used the same digital certificate to sign all three).
