Wizz RSS Lite

Inspired by a request made by VJ quite a few months ago, I decided to make a stripped down version of Wizz RSS available.

Wizz RSS Lite… Hmmmm… Hopefully it’ll taste better than Bud Lite!

The “Lite” version of Wizz RSS includes all of the usual functionality, but it excludes everything to do with the Watch List, and all of the weather stuff. I can hear you all cheering already! “Yippee! He got rid of the weather crap!”

For those of you who’d like to give Lite a spin, a word of warning: It was a VERY quick strip down exercise, so it’s very likely that bugs abound! You have been warned!

Also, Lite and the full version of Wizz RSS will not play together nicely! If you have Wizz RSS installed, you should disable it, or uninstall it, BEFORE installing Lite. The same applies if you move from Lite to the full version.

Even though they don’t play nicely together, they are fully compatible with each other. i.e. They both use the same database structure and they’ll both work with the same set of feeds. Even data already collected by the Watch List should survive a migration from the full version to Lite and then back again.

If you’d like to install Wizz RSS Lite, you can get it here - http://blat.co.za/XPIs/wizzrsslite.xpi

I’ll do my very best to ignore comments from morons telling me that it doesn’t work with 3.0b4pre!

IF YOU DON’T UNDERSTAND HOW TO HACK maxVersion YOU SHOULDN’T BE USING 3.0b4pre!

I don’t like it because it’s not compatible with Flock.

Are you planning on making whizz lite available for the stable FF version?

(BLAAH! This is my third try to submit this, and FF isn’t saving what I have in the text box when I hit ‘back’ for some reason. I guess I need cookies enabled for the captcha.)

*copies text just to be safe

    Wizz doesn’t have an H :)

Nope. I’ve stopped all development work on Wizz RSS for Firefox 2. 2.1.9.8 is the last release for Firefox 2. All new development work is targeted at Firefox 3.
